Filipe is from Brazil and he is at UBC for his MASc. He comes from a small but gorgeous island in the south of Brazil called Florianopolis. The University in right in the center of the island and there Filipe has worked in the Metrology and Automation Lab, part of the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Filipe graduated in August 2015 in Mechanical Engineering. At the Metrology and Automation Lab, he has worked on projects related to DSPI, participating directly on development and design of mechanical components for systems used in residual stress measurements. Filipe also worked with Finite element analysis focused on the hole drilling method. In 2014, he spent 6 months as an intern at Los Alamos National Laboratory doing work in residual stress measurements with DSPI systems and performing FEA work related to stress measurements.

Filipe enjoys reading, hiking, listening to good music and hanging out with friends when possible. He is also very excited with life in campus, Vancouver and surroundings. He much enjoys going on hikes and getting to know all the natural beauty of British Columbia!
